RAILWAY WATER TOWER AND LOCOMOTIVE MONUMENTS IN TŁUSZCZ
The history of Tłuszcz is strongly associated with the railway. The city’s rapid development began after the opening in 1862 of the Petersburg-Warsaw Railway. New houses and railway workshops were gradually built. To ensure proper operation, the locomotive depot needed water supplies. In the 19th century, two wooden water towers were built near the station and a third one closer to the engine shed. The one considered the city’s landmark was built in 1921. A real treat for railway enthusiasts are two rare locomotives – the Ty2-220 steam locomotive from 1943 and the Hutnik 4010 locomotive from 1958.
