RAILWAY WATER TOWER AND LOCOMOTIVE MONUMENTS IN TŁUSZCZ
The history of Tłuszcz is strongly linked to railways. The city’s intensive development began after the opening in 1862 of the St. Petersburg–Warsaw Railway. New houses and railway workshops gradually appeared. To ensure proper operation, the locomotive depot needed water supplies. In the 19th century two wooden water towers were therefore built near the station area and a third one closer to the engine depot. The tower now considered the town’s landmark was built in 1921. A real treat for railway enthusiasts are also two rare locomotives — the Ty2-220 steam locomotive from 1943 and the Hutnik 4010 locomotive from 1958.
