RAILWAY WATER TOWER AND LOCOMOTIVE MONUMENTS IN TŁUSZCZ
The history of Tłuszcz is strongly connected to railways. The city’s particularly intensive development occurred after the opening of the St. Petersburg - Warsaw Railway in 1862. Gradually, new houses and railway workshops were built. To ensure proper operation, the engine shed needed water supplies. Therefore, in the 19th century, two wooden water towers were built in the station area and a third closer to the engine house. The one now considered the city’s emblem was built in 1921. A real treat for railway enthusiasts are two rare locomotive specimens - the Ty2-220 steam locomotive from 1943 and the Hutnik 4010 locomotive from 1958.
