RAILWAY WATER TOWER & LOCOMOTIVE MONUMENTS, TŁUSZCZ
Tłuszcz’s history is closely linked to the railway. The town developed rapidly after the Petersburg–Warsaw Railway opened in 1862. New homes and railway workshops gradually appeared. To ensure proper operation, the engine depot needed a water supply. Two wooden water towers were therefore built near the station in the 19th century, with a third closer to the locomotive shed. The one now considered the town’s landmark was built in 1921. Railway enthusiasts will also appreciate two rare locomotives: Ty2-220 steam engine from 1943 and Hutnik 4010 locomotive from 1958.
