RAILWAY WATER TOWER AND LOCOMOTIVE MONUMENTS IN TŁUSZCZ
The history of Tłuszcz is closely linked to the railway. The city experienced particularly intense development after the opening of the Petersburg-Warsaw Railway in 1862. Gradually, new houses and railway workshops were built. To ensure proper functioning, the locomotive depot needed water resources. Therefore, in the 19th century, two wooden water towers were built near the station and a third one closer to the locomotive depot. The one now considered the city’s showcase was built in 1921. True collectors’ items for railway enthusiasts are also two rare locomotive specimens – the steam locomotive Ty2-220 from 1943 and the locomotive Hutnik 4010 from 1958.
