RAILWAY WATER TOWER AND LOCOMOTIVE MONUMENTS IN TŁUSZCZ
Tłuszcz’s history is strongly connected with the railway. The city’s particularly intensive development took place after the opening of the Petersburg-Warsaw Railway in 1862. Gradually, new houses and railway workshops were built. To ensure proper functioning, the roundhouse needed water supplies. In the 19th century, two wooden water towers were built near the station, and a third one closer to the locomotive depot. The one considered the city’s landmark was built in 1921. A real treat for railway enthusiasts are two rare locomotive specimens – the Ty2-220 steam locomotive from 1943 and the Hutnik 4010 locomotive from 1958.
