RAILWAY WATER TOWER & LOCOMOTIVE MONUMENTS IN TŁUSZCZ
Tłuszcz’s history is closely linked to the railway. The town developed rapidly after the Petersburg–Warsaw Railway opened in 1862. New homes and railway workshops gradually appeared. To operate properly, the engine shed needed water supplies. Two wooden water towers were therefore built near the station in the 19th century, with a third closer to the locomotive depot. The one now considered the town’s landmark was built in 1921. Railway enthusiasts will also enjoy two rare locomotives: the Ty2-220 steam engine from 1943 and the Hutnik 4010 locomotive from 1958.
