RAILWAY WATER TOWER AND LOCOMOTIVE MONUMENTS IN TŁUSZCZ
The history of Tłuszcz is closely connected with railways. The city developed rapidly after the opening of the St. Petersburg–Warsaw Railway in 1862. Gradually, new houses and railway workshops were built. To ensure proper operation, the engine shed needed water supplies. Thus, in the 19th century, two wooden water towers were built near the station and a third closer to the locomotive shed. The one considered the city’s landmark today was built in 1921. A real treat for railway enthusiasts are the two rare locomotives – the Ty2-220 steam locomotive from 1943 and the Hutnik 4010 locomotive from 1958.
